About project

From Idea to Plate: 3D Printing Food

Compact 3D printers first appeared in Netflix’s debut season of 'Black Mirror,' leaving us both fascinated and inspired, much like the numerous chefs’ reality shows. In our studio, we envisioned futuristic food and the concept of limitless culinary creations from a 3D printer. Our research was both thrilling and intense, immersing us in the product's design and functionality. The streets of Blade Runner kept replaying in our minds, leading us to wonder what a commercial might look like in such a world. We chose to maintain that futuristic tone, visual style, and design aesthetic, experimenting with various design approaches until we found a look that felt both innovative and authentic, blending 3D and 2D animation. This film was a graduation project by Idan Zakai, CEO of Zukis Studio, at Shenkar College - Engineering. Design. Art. It has been showcased at numerous global events and received several awards.

"Our studio became a playground of ideas, envisioning a future where a 3D printer could create unlimited culinary wonders."

About project

Crafting a Brand for Tomorrow

Before we began working on the video, we first envisioned and defined the 3D printer itself, including how it would operate and function. We considered the types of food it could print, the range of possibilities, and what the culinary culture might look like in a future where food printers are a staple and accessible to every family. Alongside this, we developed a branding concept that suited the era as we imagined it. The design was primarily influenced by high-end molecular gastronomy and futuristic aesthetics reminiscent of how the future was envisioned in the 1980s and 1990s.
